The origin of the monument's title, that Diana is “ascending” the staircase, is revealed here in the blueprint. From the East perspective, Diana appears to have stopped on the third step of her journey upward through life and turned to bid us farewell.

The West perspective of the monument describes Diana's departure from her heavy, unforgiving earthly ties (the marble stairs) and captures our last glimpse of her so she may remain with us in spirit, forever.

The “staircase/pedestal” design may be altered to fit the monument's location, which could be a busy city street, a public atrium or courtyard, a public park—anywhere in the world.
